At The Core Of Happiness

It sounds simple. Easy even.

To love.

But I learned long ago that if you didn’t have a bag of oranges, you couldn’t give even one single orange away.

You can only give to others, what you already have yourself.

What you have with SELF, is the basis of what life serves up to you.

And the lens through which you see what shows up.

Falling madly passionately in love with SELF is not easy.

We know all our dark spots.

Better than anyone.

But LOVE of self, fully occupying SELF, is the basis of living AWAKENED.

Attracting love. Feeling love worthy. Being at peace.

Occupying all cells.

Plenty of oranges to give away.

This is said so beautifully in this prose, had to share on this Sunday morn.

While sipping coffee. Getting ready to go kayak.

Love is a muscle.

We must work it.

It starts with SELF.

Nutrients, hormones, water-filters, anti-aging meds… all serve.

But nothing helps as much as our relationship with SELF.

If we think of ourselves as 100 watt light bulbs, too many of us live at much less wattage. 50%, 30%. Even less.

We have the ability to shine stronger, just have not connected or been aware of how to turn this on. Or even that more light exists within.

When we say “I do” at the altar, if we are living a less known, less wattage life, it is the known parts of us, the 30%, that says… “I do”.

We then wake up one morning eyeing the person on the pillow next to us.

Wondering who they are? A stranger?

Because those other unknown watts of life are slowly showing up.

They didn’t participate in the “I do”.

They were the “unknown” parts of SELF.

Hidden to both of you now lying in your shared bed.

We don’t mean to not be who we are.

We just didn’t fully occupy who we are.

Or who we can be.

We must get buffed and “fight for joy”.

This is worthy battle.

With a great end that is not in sight, but inside.

Knowledge is power.

SELF LOVE is not selfish.

It is everything.

Not easy.

But worthy.

Always a muscle that must be disciplined. Sculpted.

Through the curriculum and details of all of our days.
