Bromide has a nickname. BVO.

Halides are binary compounds made up of any other element and a halogen.

A halide ion is a halogen atom bearing a negative charge.

The halide anions are fluoride (F −), chloride ( Cl −), bromide ( Br −), iodide ( I −) and astatide ( At −).

We need iodine. To make all hormones work. To detox. To boost energy. To fight cancer (iodine helps the catechol estrogen 20H to go to the final methylated estrogen metabolite 2 MEO estrogen. 2 MEO (2 methoxyestradiol) helps our bodies “see” and “fight” all kinds of cancers. As well as inflammation from diverse causes.

Contemporary environment, at least in the US, is filled with fluoride in water and most commercial toothpastes. And bromide in beverages, flour and some other foods.

Bromide and fluoride bump iodine off its molecular “seat”, rinsing it out of our bodies, making us prone to illnesses. More hormonal imbalances. More cancers. More inflammation. More fatigue.

Robustly supplementing with iodine has become essential.

Iodine helps rinse these nasty “other” halides, especially bromide, out of the body. Helps us detox. Protects hormones. (Dr. Brownstein goes into this depth in Everything Hormones, especially in regard to autoimmune thyroid patients).

The RDA of iodine is only based on adequate amounts to avoid goiters set at a time in the past when there was not so much bromide or fluoride in our air, food and water. And thus, inside our bodies. And brain tissue.

We do not get enough iodine. None of us. Especially the developing fetus. From the mom.

Our pregnant moms do not get enough iodine. Especially in prenatal vitamins.

This makes babies born with insufficient iodine and less healthy hormones. So more prone to disease, lower IQ, more ADHD, etc. JAMA just wrote on article on this that the conservative Medscape promptly attacked.

Our newborns are not doing well compared to other countries.

Part of this problem is due to too many unhealthy halides and thus insufficient iodine in parents. Especially soon-to-be-moms.

As you will soon learn these halides can harm the thyroid. The fetus depends on the mom’s thyroid the first trimester. When brain and IQ development should be off to a super start.

At the same time, some troublesome docs have been making Americans terrified of iodine.
