Gotta Keep Moving
Most folks tell us to calm down. Smell the roses?
But do you healthfully PUSH yourself?
I worked in Naples and saw patients for three days straight. Then flew to North Carolina for Thanksgiving. To lovingly hang with my adopted family.
Karen was one of my first patients 40 some years ago. Her daughter, LK, has, fortunately, become my adopted Goddaughter. She’s one of the coolest humans on this planet. Lucky me.
When flying home Monday after Thanksgiving weekend, it was in the high 30s in Austin. Took a Lyft straight to Lady Bird Lake.
I met Lisa in the parking lot. Lisa just lost 25 pounds from canoeing/kayaking with me for the last 1.5 years and combining this with her new nutritional program. She is going to share it with my LIVE membership in January to help jump-start our 2023.
Lisa and I stuffed my luggage and computer bag in her car. We rented a canoe. It’s too cold to kayak when it’s in the 30s and 40s as you get wetter in a kayak than in a canoe.
This year the trees in Austin are more yellow and orange than we’ve seen for decades. The color was stunning on all the water’s shores. It was later in the day so slants of sun came through the color and landed on the water in front of our boat.
We paddled till almost sunset. We kept a lookout for that paleolithic type bird we had viewed last time that was the size of a goat. It flew in front of our boat, up into a tree. It promptly sent a fire hose shower of yellow fecal material down the tree covering the entire trunk.
We reported the sighting. Like something out of Jurassic Park. But no one else had ever seen his huge solid dull brown bird with a beak the shape of a baseball bat.
Life’s mysteries surround us.
As dusk approached, we drove to the Hulu Hut for our veggies. Enjoying the view over more water through the thatched roof.
I was back home long past the time the sky turned dark.
Putting my head on the pillow, I was filled with gratitude. To be able to combine travel with water, nature, exercise, community, and healthy colorful food.
We are not China cups.
Keep moving. Keep pushing.
Sanely but relentlessly.
People often ask, “What’s the best exercise?”
The answer is always, “One that you’ll do. That you’ll enjoy. Most of the time.”
Stay strong!
You are not a China cup.
Never ever ever give up.
