"Pink" in the Face Sunday: close up of anti-aging biohacking and secret inlets on the water...
“Pushing” yourself regularly is part of turning back the aging clock.
Do you do this?
Not just walking or the same routines in class or the gym.
But pushing yourself to your edges.
This is where some powerful anti-aging hacks unfold..
On Sundays - when not lecturing somewhere in the world other than Austin, TX. - a group of us go kayaking.
On the infamous Lady Bird Lake. In the past called Town Lake.
One of the best skulling, kayaking, paddling lakes in the US.
We take a 4.5 mile loop from the Texas Rowing Center, around Red Bud Isle, and back.
It’s not for the faint of heart.
We got in way earlier when less folks were there.
Was gonna be 100 degrees today.
But it’s typically cooler on the water.
This is the crowd when we got back. We missed it by being early.
You put your keys and credit cards in numbered boxes.
We are often box number one. Ha.
All three of us returning from pond:
Inlet behind pond.
Muscles slow down aging.
Muscle recipe:
Regular resistant exercise + hormonal therapies = keep building muscle even as we keep aging.
This slows down aging.
Always a treat to come upon a cool bird that loves this water as much as we do.
Here was a turtle king. So confident he didn’t jump off his rock when I came close for this pic. He’s that confident.
Not like the smaller turtles that all dive into the water for safety.
Jennifer paddling away even though the water was “heavy” with silt from all the rains the weeks before.
Paddling is deep core work.
I am not there yet on this long run. Ha.
Here was a purple mermaid when I got out of the boat she suddenly showed up kindly helping me pull the kayak in.
Ya never know who life will bump you into.
She and I shared a girly friendly “moment”.
Her and her guy waved as they put out onto the lake.
When outside and happy, we are continually connecting with smiling folks.
Cause water + sun makes most of us deliriously drunk on Nature.
We keep the holiday feelings going with one of the best salads in town at the Hula Hut after paddling.
My new weird pink sunblock hat. Ha!
The last time I went paddling it was a windy monsoon down at the lake. Had to help rescue some folks. It’s been windy. Wind is a force to be reckoned with on the water.
Thus, we were tre’ grateful, even with “heavy” water, to have moderate breezes and sunny skies.
Festive feel over lunch.
Great conversation about “what’s it all about?”
When the winds were up the past few weeks, since we took two weeks off from the lake, I upped my cardio to really push myself at the gym.
Part of being the most resilient energetic YOU that YOU can be, is getting into your molecules and pushing them for all they are worth.
This kayaking trip, depending on water, wind, currents, is from 1.5 to 2 hours of continuous “pushing”.
I do believe this is part of the anti-aging secret sauce.
May the “pushing” force be with you, to keep you moving ahead with mitochondrial force, not just letting life “happen” to a you that is slowly less and less.
We have a lot of input into who we want to be.
Comes down to the true Vitamin D = discipline.
Knowledge is power.
If lived!
Dr. B.
You are a true inspiration to all of us “aging” women to keep pushing against father time
