I don’t know why, but when people grow up, they start becoming stingy with their smiles.
I don’t find that growing up.
As much as growing down.
A generous smile goes a long way to build a bridge.
A bridge where you can meet in the middle.
And grow potatoes or flowers or just share a hug.
Or a nod.
But both feel better walking back toward the shore.
Have found in life if YOU are not receiving what you would love to have land in your lap, start giving it away to others.
Watch it boomerang back.
Or leave and meet new folks that are more generous with their smiles, in response to yours.
A smile in a car at a light or a potentially awkward situation… goes a long surprising way.
Under the Trumpet Vines the other Dr. B planted that are crawling up these trees.
Riley.
Patches, David, morning walks.
Outside the front door, the lake in the back.
Spent hours on the water.
It’s about a 7 mile perimeter. Went around the lake. Around Apple island.
Most days.
All water has its own personality.
Even at different spots in the same body of water.
There is easy water.
Hard water.
Death water.
Water varies depending on so many variables.
Same with life.
Same with folks.
Trick is to learn how to surf it all.
So we don’t get stuck where we don’t want to get stuck.
Sticky is not good.
Lubed is good.
Lubed is achieved with practice of “letting go”.
And being okay with “what is” even if you “prefer” it were other wise.
Peace is not a small thing to achieve.
And enjoy.
In the easy times on the water. With friends.
But then also brought into the fury and the chaos.
To be solid while all about you are bursting with unknowns.
I wish for YOU peace.
Easy smiles.
Some gentleness as we all go screaming through our confusing streets.
Balance is not just about hormones.
It is about how we learn to juggle our life, and be generous with our smiles.
Dr. B.
