Trichloroethylene and Parkinson's Disease: Is PD completely preventable?

A critical call for going organic. And a very different "Memorial Day" set of facts.

My high school boy friend has Parkinson’s Disease. It has decimated his life.

I was kayaking yesterday with Jennifer. At lunch at the Hula Hut she waxed on about her blueberry jam she ate daily.

Jennifer had no idea that inorganic blue berries (and other berries) can have high amounts of pesticides. Like organophosphates. Linked to diseases like Parkinson’s Disease (PD).

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive brain disorder that affects the nervous system and causes issues with movement, mental health, sleep, and pain:

  • Movement: Unintentional or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination

  • Mental health: Can cause problems with mental health

  • Sleep: Can cause issues with sleep

  • Pain: Can cause painful muscle contractions

  • Also can affect hearing and vision. Ugh.

Parkinson’s disease is now the world’s “fastest” growing brain disease.

Much more than can be explained by aging alone.

Parkinson’s disease has more than doubled in the past 25 years.

If we don’t figure out why and do something about it, its rate is going to double again.
