Vaping and Your Health
Did You Know
Vaping is linked to causing gum (periodontal) disease.
Vaping severely increases the risk of COVID in teenagers & young adults (Stanford research). Damaged lungs are more vulnerable.
Vaping and the Brain
On two annual national surveys, both adults and kids who vape were more likely to report difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions than their non-vaping, non-smoking peers.
The survey results also suggest that kids were more likely to experience mental fog if they started vaping before the age of 14.
What You Inhale Matters
Air is the new food.
What you breathe is more important than food - because it is 24/7; moment to moment, not just several times a day.
Chronic exposure to inhaled nicotine—even without being the primary smoker—increases blood pressure in both the body's general circulation and in the lungs.
This can lead to pulmonary hypertension and high blood pressure in general.
Get this: Heavy smokers, even young adults, exhale dangerous metabolites while they sleep at night. Their sleeping partners breathe this breath in! YIKES!
There is a scary trend in our younger population of increased use of e-cigs and vaping.
Look At The Stats:
Every day, 2000 young people over 18 smoke for the first time.
Every day 300 become regular smokers.
16 million people live with at least one disease caused by smoking.
58 million nonsmoking Americans are exposed to secondhand smoke (they are not smoking but exposed to others that are) which still increases lung and general systemic blood pressure.
In 2017, 1/4 of Louisiana high school youths smoked one product or another- 25%!!!!
Many youth and young adults are using e-cigs and vaping thinking it is not harmful. They are wrong. It is harmful for them and you!
Let them know.
Breathe deeply of clean air.
Be well.
