I have been seeing a lot of patients with gender issues. I looked into it more and think that environmental chemicals such as xenoestrogens and all these hormone blockers prenatally are affecting the mom. If you could give your perspective on that, that would be nice.

I agree. Read Hormone Deception. Lou Guillet phd embryologist first saw feminized male alligators and mascuclinized female in polluted Lake Apopka and when the lake was remediated the gender bending reversed. dlb

Several years back I thought I read somewhere that you and Jonathan Wright were writing a book together about hormones but I don’t think such a book was produced. Was it?

So I’m still left with many questions about how to assess hormone levels, especially in post menopausal women. once someone is on transdermal estrogens and/or progesterone. Which tests should be used and in what ranges should estriol, estradiol, estrone and progesterone be kept?

There's lots of info now on neurotransmitters. But depression, anxiety and addiction are huge issues in our population. Wondering if there's anything specific about hormones and mental health -- (in addition to thyroid) -- or if you have any other clarity to offer about nutrition for mental health which turns out to be a big subject these days.

How about the latest research in the treatment of Lp(a)? The Cleveland Clinic seems to be involved in a study and perhaps there are others? Thanks.

Your opinions on hormone pellets. Not sure I have ever heard you discuss this topic.

all delivery modes are useful for the patients that respond to them. nothing in and of itself is all good or bad. why do we always try to look at things like that? we now use soft pellets those are great. best dlb

I would love to understand more about soy consumption. There are ao many mixed messages as to whethwr it’s beneficial or not. Especially pertaining to thyroid and Hashimoto’s disease. Thank you, KC

There is NO debate. Read my chapter in Safe Hormones Smart Women to Soy or Not To Soy, soy isoflavones protect against primary and recurrences of hormonally driven cancers. If you consume soy with iodine rich food or take iodine, it is NOT thyroid damaging. dlb

I definitely use all modalities and truly educate patients on each one to get an idea of their comfort level and expectations for hormone replacement. I just haven’t heard you speak to pellets much. However, I have not heard of soft pellets, and that sounds very interesting. I use several different compound pharmacies across America, and I have not heard of soft pellets. Which compound pharmacy makes these?

Thanks! I will look up Calroy’s products as I am not familiar with them. I have a Ca score of 0.

Devaki,

Your experience and knowledge is second only to your drive to be fresh, curious and ....... original (different). Along those lines I ask (am curious) why there doesnt appear to be much written on clinically observed correlation of siblings, chemistry .... markers. For example, if you have siblings, and they were to be 'typically American' in their self-care and nutrition, what a clinical comparison of vital indicators might reveal ..... a bit of the 'nature v nurture debate.

Thank you for your great work Devaki, and I understand if too far off centre.

Thank you for interesting stuff.

I am seeking more info on LDL.

If blood LDL is controlled by statins it is assumed this issue is controlled.

But if Lipoprotein is above ok level there seems zero action can be taken that lowers it. New drugs are not approved yet. If seems to be locked long term.

So what should be done....

As a related issue. Lipoprotein seems to wrap oil based stuff in water soluble bubble to move the package around the body. Sounds cool but why when blood LDL seems to move this around without complexity.

Your wisdom is welcome

I’d like to know about injectable progesterone. I use injectable estradiol and testosterone and get excellent results.

A lot of women struggle getting progesterone levels high enough with oral and topical progesterone. There’s also some women who don’t do that great inserting progesterone vaginally or rectally either.

Seems like injectable would be a great option. I have heard mixed reviews on it. Mostly problems at the injection site.

Thank you!
