A landmark study revealed that diet alone, WITHOUT MEDS, achieved remission (which means “good-bye” to this serious problem, at least for this “now”) in pediatric patients with active inflammatory bowel disease (IBD – Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease).
This is amazing.
Usually patients in “flares” are given high dosages of prednisone. In this case, food turned around serious autoimmune diseases that normally require lots of this powerful anti-inflammatory (that is also an immunosuppressant).
Patients were put on a specific carbohydrate diet (SCD) for 12 weeks: NO grains, dairy, processed foods, or sugars, except for honey.
After 12 weeks, 80% percent of the patients had significant improvement and achieved remission.
80% of kids on a new and improved diet, had new and improved gut health.
Diet alone can bring pediatric patients with active inflammatory IBD into remission.
I have, in the past two years, had several young female patients who were told they needed their entire colons removed because of the seriousness of their IBD scenarios.
When they went through dietary and natural programs, within 4 to 6 months their colonic tissue health normalized. One patient with a 20-year history of severe disease had no evidence of disease after 6 months at her next scoping exam. Her gastroenterologist was stunned. He said keep doing what you are doing. But never asked what.
I took the pre and post-colonoscopies to the gastroenterologists at Austin Regional Gastroenterology. My kind gut doc allowed me to give a presentation to many of the gut docs in his group.
They waited till I was done. Then told me they did not believe that food had anything to do with serious gut disease other than fiber and probiotics.
Oy veh.
Remember to be mindful of:
food,
air,
exercise,
toxic exposures,
thoughts and
community.
All add up to health or lack of it.
And, they can make a major difference, in major diseases, if you get to work with a savvy practitioner.
Be well.

Thankyou for sharing your thoughts and evidence on this matter. It is shocking that so many do not see it. Rgds, S
