I had breast cancer almost 30 years ago. Still, my doc sends me ongoing nudges to get mammograms yearly. But I get them about every 4 to 5 years with some years in between of ultrasound, or none at all. I religiously do self-exams in the shower, which is how I found the original lump one month after a normal mammogram and a normal breast exam by a breast cancer doctor.
Thank you for such great info as always. This one speaks loudly to me, as I’ve learned more about mammography and the risks that are almost never discussed. Brilliant ~ thank you for sharing!
Dear Dr. Berkson— you’re amazing in so many ways! I look forward to your articles and thoughts every day! I am dealing with breast cancer now so all your information about hormones and testing is so very helpful . Thank you for all you do and for caring so much! Xoxo-Julie
Dr. Berkson, you and Dr. Wright are my two favorite doctors. I agree with your perspective on mammograms. Dr. Wright teaches that using iodine can prevent breast cancer. What are your thoughts on this?
Thankypou Dr D, For giving us the tools to think for ourselves. The pharmaceutical industry:“The pharmaceutical industry isn’t looking for cures, they’re looking for new customers.” and so we need the tools to manage our own healthcare and longevity.
Hi Dr. Berkson, Great article! I am a cancer survivor and I have dense breast tissue. My doctors push me to get annual mammograms with the 3D type which emits even a higher dose of radiation and since I have dense breast they take more X-rays exposing me to more radiation. I’ve asked if I can get ultrasounds every other year since I’m concerned about the radiation exposure but they said I must get a mammogram first. Why do they force you to get mammograms when an ultrasound is a safer alternative? Where can I get ultrasounds if my doctor will not give me a prescription for one?

Many Thanks for your wonderful articles!
I see there is DIM in your supplement(s). Does that suppress your healthy estrogen while on BHRT?
