From the items I’ve been reading the recommended protein intake for seniors over 60 is 1.2gm per kg to reduce sarcopenia.

Thanks for this article. Gabriel Lyon, Andrew Huberman & Peter Attia have been presenting similar information that, when applied to my metabolically challenged clients, facilitates fat loss and lean mass preservation. For myself, I’m an omnivore that shoots for 35 -40 grams of protein per meal. At 61, I feel stronger when I eat this way.

Thank you for posting this. As Michael noted below, Dr. Gabrielle Lyon (practices muscle centric medicine), JJ Virgin, Dr. Huberman are also highlighting this. Other advocates recommend much lower protein level - i.e. in the keto world and when I did keto diet, was only getting 72 grams a day. So, again how much and what type can be confusing to me at times. I too feel really good on higher , high quality protein.

Thank you for a great article! I eat plant based protein only (legumes, nuts, seeds, greens, and grains), and feel great! People can get more than enough protein they need from a plant based diet.
